Medal de­light for Cathkin High

Two Cathkin High pupils per­formed well in the In­door Track and Field Cham­pi­onships at the Emi­rates Sta­dium in Glas­gow last month.

Drew Pol­lock came se­cond in his 1500m heat while Christo­pher McLew placed third in his heat at the pop­u­lar two-day event.

The school won five out of six medals in the In­ter­school Cross Coun­try com­pe­ti­tion. The medals in­cluded S1 boys, S2 girls, S2 boys, S3 girls and S3 boys, and Cathkin nar­rowly missed out on S1 girls gold.

For this event, the S1 boys team were made up of Aaron Grew, Ewan McLew, Austin Sime, Jay Wil­liamson, Mark Tul­lett, Lewis Holmes Ruiz, Cal­lum Hep­worth, Zak Povey, Euan Sweeten and Ross Noble.

The S1 girls team con­sisted of Han­nah Lang, Kirsty Hay, Emma Curr, Rachel Crich­ton, Lau­ren Thomp­son, Elise Fawcett, Mil­lie Tul­leth, El­lie Patterson, Katie Baird and Amy McGhee.

The S2 boys team were Ru­raidh McGre­gor, Cole Mackin­non, Evan Theobald, Lewis Slivin­ski, Cameron McGhee, Ross Shaw, Fraser Scott, Ethan Horn, Jo­hann Fawcett, Lewis Hep­worth and Keir Craw­ford.

The S2 girls team in­cluded Mor­gan Han­nah, Chloe Bur­ton, Megan Gem­mell, Char­lie McShane, Olivia McFarlane, Emma Waugh, Re­becca Gunn, Amy Boyle, Megan Docherty and Mor­ven Last.

Fi­nally, the S3 boys team con­sisted of Christo­pher McLew, Josh Rankin, Ni­cholas Devlin, Cian Bond, Bai­ley Hunter, Kyle Miller, Blair Meikle and Jay Nelson.

Zara Suther­land, Lau­ren Ste­wart, McKern Dor­ran, Natalie Clark and Amy Foun­tain made up the S3 win­ning girls team.

Fol­low­ing on from this suc­cess, th­ese pupils went on to com­pete in the an­nual South La­nark­shire Cross Coun­try event which was held on Tues­day, Fe­bru­ary 16 in Big­gar.
