Medal delight for Cathkin High

Two Cathkin High pupils performed well in the Indoor Track and Field Championsh­ips at the Emirates Stadium in Glasgow last month.

Drew Pollock came second in his 1500m heat while Christophe­r McLew placed third in his heat at the popular two-day event.

The school won five out of six medals in the Interschoo­l Cross Country competitio­n. The medals included S1 boys, S2 girls, S2 boys, S3 girls and S3 boys, and Cathkin narrowly missed out on S1 girls gold.

For this event, the S1 boys team were made up of Aaron Grew, Ewan McLew, Austin Sime, Jay Williamson, Mark Tullett, Lewis Holmes Ruiz, Callum Hepworth, Zak Povey, Euan Sweeten and Ross Noble.

The S1 girls team consisted of Hannah Lang, Kirsty Hay, Emma Curr, Rachel Crichton, Lauren Thompson, Elise Fawcett, Millie Tulleth, Ellie Patterson, Katie Baird and Amy McGhee.

The S2 boys team were Ruraidh McGregor, Cole Mackinnon, Evan Theobald, Lewis Slivinski, Cameron McGhee, Ross Shaw, Fraser Scott, Ethan Horn, Johann Fawcett, Lewis Hepworth and Keir Crawford.

The S2 girls team included Morgan Hannah, Chloe Burton, Megan Gemmell, Charlie McShane, Olivia McFarlane, Emma Waugh, Rebecca Gunn, Amy Boyle, Megan Docherty and Morven Last.

Finally, the S3 boys team consisted of Christophe­r McLew, Josh Rankin, Nicholas Devlin, Cian Bond, Bailey Hunter, Kyle Miller, Blair Meikle and Jay Nelson.

Zara Sutherland, Lauren Stewart, McKern Dorran, Natalie Clark and Amy Fountain made up the S3 winning girls team.

Following on from this success, these pupils went on to compete in the annual South Lanarkshir­e Cross Country event which was held on Tuesday, February 16 in Biggar.
