Nicholas wins Open gold
A young Cambuslang boxer won a gold medal at the School and Junior Scottish Open Championships.
Nicholas Devlin, 14, who boxes out of O’Neils Amateur Boxing Club, took the top prize at Ravenscraig Sports Facility, Motherwell on March 13.
The Cathkin High pupil, who won Scotland’s only medal in last year’s European Schoolboy Championships in Russia, took the 48kg title after defeating Ryan Carlin of Kier Hardy ABC.
Nicholas has now won gold medals in the Scottish, Western District, and Scottish Intermediate Championships and won bronze at the British Championships.
Rising star Nicholas, who trains three times a week at O’Neil’s gym in Cambuslang, also trains regularly over weekends at training camps with the Scottish national team.
