Rail misery continues

-

Disruption to Sunday train services between Rutherglen and Cambuslang will continue for a further three weeks, ScotRail has confirmed.

Work to replace track and signal equipment began on April 10 and will be resumed for the next three Sundays, finally ending on May 1.

The work means all train services between Balloch and Larkhall will make their final stop at Rutherglen Train Station.

For people travelling to Cambuslang buses will run between Bridgeton and Newton and will connect with Glasgow Central.

There is no train/ bus interchange at Rutherglen due to the distance between the station and main road.

The Balloch to Motherwell via Whifflet service is also affected by the works, and will see a bus run between Whifflet and Motherwell. A 58-year-old man has appeared in court charged with permanently disfiguring a man in an attack in Rutherglen.

Francis Connor Glencross is accused of assaulting one man and causing severe injury and permanent disfigurement to a second during an incident in the Farme Cross area on Wednesday, March 30.

Glencross, from Rutherglen, made no plea or declaration when he appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court to face the two charges on Friday, April 1.

He was committed for further examination and released on bail.
