Book giveaways and prizes at library

Book lovers are gathering in Rutherglen later this month to share their love of reading with others.

Members of the World Book Night organisation will be at Rutherglen Library on April 21 as part of a global celebration of literary works.

The annual event sees passionate volunteers give out hundreds of books in their communities to share their love of reading with people who do not read regularly or own books.

Running from 6pm till 7.30pm, the whole community is invited to the Rutherglen event, where there will be tea, coffee, home baking, book giveaways and prizes.

World Book Night is run by The Reading Agency, a national charity that inspires people to become confident and enthusiastic readers to help give them an equal chance in life.
