A member of Cambuslang Weight Watchers hopes her story can inspire others in the area to lose weight.

Liz Unay, 42, has lost four and half stone since joining the group two years ago.

She was inspired to act after a size 16 trouser proved too tight.

From weighing 14st13, she is now down to 10st6, thanks to her own hard work and the support of her friend, Michelle Friel, who runs the class in Cambuslang Rugby Club.

Liz said: “My reasons for joining were health, wellbeing and baby weight.

“The group are so friendly and full of inspirational members who had already lost a great amount of weight between them.

“I first joined Weight Watchers after my six week check after having my daughter.

“I had gone to buy trousers for a night out and a size 16 was tight. “I was devastated. “I lost two stone quite quickly, mostly from baby weight, and then gave up. I rejoined again in 2013 and got to goal but again went back to old habits.

“Finally I joined Michelle’s class and enjoyed staying to the meetings which has now helped me not only getting back to goal but stay there. I joined a local gym and love metafit, body attack, TRX. You name it, I do it.”

Liz reckons her remarkable transformation has not only changed her health, but also her mental wellbeing.

She said: “I have so much confidence, I love going to the gym and have so much energy. Before there is no way I would have gone to a gym. “I just love life. “I also have to say my number one supporter was my mum.

“My eating habits have now changed as I eat so much more variety of foods and have stopped the cycle of binge eating then starving mysel.

“And my activity levels have also dramatically changed as I now exercise most days at my local gym and love all the classes that I go to.

“Also, I got rid of my old clothes which really helped as I can’t afford to buy bigger clothes again and so love buying smaller sizes.

She added: “If I was to give any advice to other people out there wanting to lose weight, it would be ‘never give up’.”
