Rutherglen Reformer

“My son lost money after his card was skimmed”

- Edel Kenealy

With card skimming devices installed at three cash machines on Rutherglen Main Street last week, the Reformer took to the streets to ask locals if they are wary of using ATMs.

Several people told us they try to use ATMs positioned within banks and building societies as they cannot be tampered with by fraudsters.

Bridget Allan from Rutherglen said: “I am very wary of them. My son lost money after, his card was skimmed.

“He did get it back from the bank, but it makes you think about it. I always cover the keypad when I’m entering my pin number.”

Elaine Walker from Rutherglen said she tries to use cash machines indoors.

The only time I go to one outside is if my husband is with me
