Duries receive a donation

Duries Boxing Club were given a kind donation by Rutherglen Rotary Club last week.

Coach Archie Dur ie collected a cheque of £ 500 from Rotary president Ian Wilson and vice president Eddie Goldberg at the Kings Park Hotel on Thursday.

The money will go towards paying the club’s rent.

Archie said: “I would like to thank the Rutherglen Rotary Club for their continued backing of our Rutherglen boxing club with their kind donation.

“I’d also like to thank all the members at the club who donated.

“I was invited to talk to the members about Durie’s history and our champions which I have done on several occasions.

“The money will help pay the rent and keep the club afloat.”

Members of the Rutherglen Rotary Club meet each week at 6pm at the Kings Park Hotel in Rutherglen.

The meetings begin with a two course meal and an opportunity to enjoy conversation and fellowship with other members.

After the meal and after some brief business, a guest speaker will address the members and guests.
