Fos­ter care praise

Fos­ter par­ents in Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang have been thanked for mak­ing the lives of vul­ner­a­ble chil­dren bet­ter.

Mark McDon­ald, Scot­tish min­is­ter for early years and child­care, has writ­ten to fos­ter car­ers in the two towns to thank them for open­ing their homes and fam­i­lies to chil­dren who have had a dif­fi­cult start to life.

Mr McDon­ald said: “Thank you to ev­ery­one who give th­ese chil­dren and young peo­ple the great­est gift imag­in­able.

“There can be no doubt that the com­mit­ment made by fos­ter car­ers is life chang­ing and vi­tal to sup­port­ing chil­dren and young peo­ple who can’t re­main at home.

“As min­is­ter for early years and child­care I want to en­sure that we are do­ing all we can to sup­port looked af­ter chil­dren and the peo­ple who give them a home, pro­vide them with sta­bil­ity and af­fec­tion and build brighter fu­tures.”
