A gala night for these girls

The Cambuslang Gala Queen for 1986 was crowned at the Cambuslang Institute 30 years ago, and the Reformer declared it to be a historic night.

Thirty-seven entrants had been whittled down to a final group of 16, with each girl then interviewed on the night. Eventually the judges decided that the winner was Pauline Comrie, with Karen Meikle first attendant and Stephanie Gray second attendant.
