Dylan puts pen to paper

-

Clyde have secured midfielder Dylan Easton from Elgin City.

Manager Barry Ferguson confirmed this week the 22-year-old had signed a contract with The Bully Wee for the 2016/17 season.

The former Livingston, Berwick and St Johnstone playmaker scored three goals in 29 appearances for the Borough Briggs men last year and is looking forward to a new challenge.

Ferguson said: “When I found out there was a chance we could bring Dylan to Clyde, I started working on the deal straight away and we have worked extremely hard to get him. It’s a major signing for the club and I’m absolutely delighted.

“When we met initially, he was so keen to do something with us and that was the thing that really got me – he wanted to play for me and for Clyde.

“He’s got undoubted quality and he is a link between the midfield and forwards, something that we know we have been missing.

“He knows some of our current squad and they’ve helped to convince him that it was the right move. He also enjoyed the experience of the play-off matches against us and playing at Broadwood on the big pitch is something he’s looking forward to.”

Ferguson’s next priorities are a central defender and a goalkeeper.

He also announced that four more players from the existing squad had signed new contracts. Defender Chris Smith, midfielders Scott McLaughlin and JP McGovern and forward Jamie Watson have all agreed new deals.

In addition to five new signings already announced, 10 players have been retained, including Scott Ferguson, who signed a contract extension in March.
