Music festival back at track

Racing will also hit the high notes

It was where it all began for T in the Park and now a new music festival is set to bring the best of Scottish talent back to its birth place in the heart of Lanarkshir­e.

Hamilton Park Racecourse has just announced details of its first ever Music Festival Racenight and will bring to the stage Scottish Indie rockers Glasvegas for one night only in the grand finale of its Jordan Electrics Super Saturdays series.

On Saturday, September 24, the Glasgow four-piece will entertain thousands of guests with classic tunes like ‘Geraldine’ and ‘Daddy’s Gone’ as well as a performing a host of new material in an event that will celebrate the best local bands in the country.

Kelvin and Indigo Velvet - already cult names in the Scottish music scene - are just some of the other acts in the jam-packed line-up. The organiser is also in talks with a number of other big name acts and will reveal details in the coming weeks.

The gates to the action packed, daylong event will open at 12 noon and will also feature a thrilling racecard to match the festival line-up including the £20,000 Totepool EBF Stallions Flower of Scotland Handicap Stakes (Class 3) feature race.

Vivien Kyles, Chief Executive at Hamilton Park Racecourse, said: “Bringing a musical festival back to Hamilton has been a long term ambition of the racecourse and to have Glasvegas as the headline act will be music to the ears of revellers across the country. Hamilton is no stranger to music festivals and this event is all about bringing together Scottish bands to celebrate our love of music.
