Oliver wants more Clyde please

-

Clyde gaffer Barry Ferguson has announced the signature of Michael Oliver from Lowland League side Cumbernauld Colts.

The 26-year-old defender is returning for his second spell with The Bully Wee, having previously been with the side between 2011 and 2013.

That period ended with Oliver suffering a serious knee injury, following which he has had to rebuild his career after a lengthy recovery period.

Ferguson said:“We had Michael watched several times last season and received some very good reports about him. I know that he was used in various positions during his last spell with the club, but he’s 100 per cent a centre half and he’ll be pushing for a starting place in that position.

“He’s had a long road back from a serious injury, going amateur and then into the Lowland League, but he’s worked hard and he’s ready to step back up again.

“He’s hungry to succeed and he deserves another go at this level. There were two other senior clubs chasing Michael so I’m really happy that he’s chosen Clyde again.”

Twenty Clyde fans attended the club’s pre-season friendly during their training camp trip to Jersey.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw against a Jersey FA select team at St. Brelade FC.

Scott Linton’s first half penalty was quickly cancelled out by a goal from Cav Miley for the home side. With the exception of Scott Ferguson and JP McGovern - both still in a rehabilitation period following injuries - all of the squad
