Scott nervous ahead of first meet and greet

Actor’s theatre date

Rutherglen actor Scott Kyle has admitted to nerves as he prepares for his first ever‘meet and greet’event.

Scott is currently starring in hit show Outlander.

His appearances on the programme have seen his star rise, with fans sending him artwork and gifts from all over the world.

And he has used his new-found fame to try to raise money for the Regal Theatre in Bathgate where he works as artistic director.

After being encouraged by an Outlander fan from Oklahoma, Scott will host the ‘ Highlander Fling’ events on September 23.

It will be Scott’s first experience of meeting fans from the show. He said: “It’s a wee bit nerve wracking, there are people coming from America just to meet us.

“I’ve done a motivational speaking tour before but never anything like this.

“The money we raise will go to the theatre. We’ve already had £2000 worth of donations come in.”

Scott has so far been stunned with the reaction to his part as Ross in the Amazon Prime show, which is set against the backdrop of the Jacobite rebellion.

He has received support from places like Holland and Argentina as well as the States and he recently visited the battlefield at Culloden, an experience he described as “sombre”.

With the show’s popularity in the USA, he even hopes it could see him make the big break Stateside.

He said: “Even my Twitter following has shot through the roof and people are coming to shows at the theatre just because of it.

“Hopefully it’s just a matter of getting some footage and sending it to a casting director who will bring me in.

“It really does open up the possibility of America.”
