It might be the middle of summer but Rutherglen Town Hall has announced a programme right through the autumn and winter months.

And there is going to be plenty going on at the Main Street venue, from comedy shows to theatre and music.

It all starts tomorrow (July 14) with kids show Hairy MaClary and friends.

There will be two performanc­es, at 2pm and 4pm, and the show is based on the children’s books by Lynley Dodd.

There’s more entertainm­ent for children with Kids Magic! Nothing Up My Sleeve on July 30.

This marks the return of popular magician Douglas Cameron, who will dazzle everyone with an array of tricks.

August brings a dash of dancefloor magic to the venue.

The Solid Gold 70s Show is packed with hits, from ABBA to t-Rex, Queen and Earth, Wind and Fire and it takes place on August 25.

Rutherglen Rep are regulars at the Town Hall, and they are back again on September 2 and 3 with a show that is going to make a killing.

Murder Cottage is set in a sleepy village, where a couple new to the area have asked their neighbours round for dinner.

But someone there has more than a meal on their mind- they are plotting murder!

The Best of Broadway then arrives on September 8.

It promises to do exactly what the title suggests, and provide an evening of top class tunes from some of the most popular musical production­s.

More entertainm­ent for youngsters follows on September 10, as the musician and children’s author Fraser Bruce pops by to read from his book Wee Shoobie, about a wee creature trying to find his family and friends.

A cinema classic follows on September 23.

Singin In The Rain is regarded as one of the greatest musicals of all time, and this showing will let viewers dance back to the golden days of Hollywood.

The vocal skills of Gerry Anderson will be on display on September 30, running the likes of of Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond, Elvis, Tony Bennett and even Shirley Bassey!

There is music of a rock n’ roll bent on October 8 when the Kast Off Kinks arrive.

The line- up consists of several people who’ve played with the Kinks as they became one of Britain’s greatest bands, including original drummer Mick Avory and long-time keyboards player Ian Gibbons.

The ever popular nostalgia series of shows continues with Rolling Back The Years on October 11.

This follows in the wake of the likes of Memory Lane and All Our Yesterdays, with music from the 50s through to the 70s.

More music memories will follow on October 14, when Let’s Drift arrive in town.

They celebrate classic soul music like the Drifters and the Four Tops.

Then it is the turn of American soft rock, when Hotel California bring the legendary sound of the Eagles to Rutherglen.

All the hits plus more obscure tunes will be heard on October 15.

The autumn half term break brings with it some shows for children.

Don’t Dribble On The Dragon is based on the book by Steven Lee, with magic tricks designed by the late, great Paul Daniels. It is held on October 18. Appealing to an older crowd will be Auld Hats, New Heids on October 19, as four top Scottish folk singers recreate the famous folk days of the 60s and 70s.

Singer and funnyman Edward Reid then presents a very different type of show on the afternoon of October 26.

Happiness and Wellbeing is an afternoon workshop about Edward using mediation techniques to help
