Four out of four for High Flyers Nursery

- Douglas Dickie

A Cambuslang nursery facility has been given the thumbs up by inspectors.

High Flyers Nursery on Hallside Road was subject to a surprise inspection on Friday, June 10 and Wednesday, June 15 this year.

The inspectors have now published their findings and praised the nursery for the work they do.

They awarded the facility four‘very good’ grades out of four relating to the quality of staffing, care and support, environment and management.

Children attending were described as “happy, settled and well cared for.”

Reporting their findings, the inspectors said:“The interactions between staff and children were friendly and nurturing which helped create a positive learning environment for the children. Children told us they really liked coming to nursery and their favourite activities were going to the forest, playing outside and building with the bricks.”

Parents were also interviewed by the inspectors, all of whom heaped praise on the service.

The inspection focussed on key issues relating to the four criteria.

Particular praise was given to the way the nursery helps children deal with the transition from the home to nursery and then to primary school.

The report read:“The service had developed very positive links with many feeder schools which included visits from primary one teacher.

“To help provide continuity and familiarity the nursery started a joint project with their local school.

“This very good approach to transition helped everyone to feel included, respected, nurtured and safe.”

The nursery was also praised for its commitment to outdoor learning and emphasis on safety.
