Sports Hub update
Stonelaw Community Sport Hub launched a successful primary schools sports festival which saw 200 pupils participate in sessions delivered by local clubs.
The organisation worked in partnership with the Landemer Committee, Active Schools, and the local sport council to coordinate the festival at Lifestyles Eastfield Sport Centre last month.
The event was a massive success and plans are already in place to expand the event for next year.
Over the past three months the Sport Hub and sporting partners have come together to coordinate a number of coach education and CPD workshops.
It saw local sport volunteers trained up on first aid, child protection, how to coach disabled sport performers and sport psychology. The courses help local clubs to improve sporting environments on and off the field.
The last Sport Hub was hosted in late April and saw partners from local sports clubs, South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture, Stonelaw High, and Cambuslang and Rutherglen Sports Council Sport come together to discuss local sporting opportunities.
Hub partners discussed an array of opportunities including: volunteer/coach education, promotional events, funding, links with local schools, and working with community partners.
The Stonelaw Community Sport Hub is based at Stonelaw High School and is made up of various sport clubs and community partners.
The Community Sport Hub steering group meets every three months to discuss how all members can work together to create sporting opportunities for the wider community.
