Rotarians awarded for their dedication

Two Rutherglen Rotarians were recognised for their service to the organisation and the community at the most recent meeting of the club.

Brian Cole-Hamilton, past secretary and president of Rutherglen Rotary Club, was presented with an honorary membership at the club in recognition of his long service with the organisation.

A community award was also handed over to Bill Wilson for his significant contributions to the local community in the ministry and in his work with the Abbeyfield care organisation.

After the awards were handed out, those at the meeting were well entertained by an excellent and illustrious speaker in East Kilbride Rotary Club’s president Ian Macpherson.

He shared some funny and amazing tales of meeting the great and the good around the world, from US politicians, such as Newt Gingrich - born a Macpherson, to famous golfers like Colin Montgomerie, all through an interest in neckties.
