Pre-season win for Lang

-

Cambuslang Rgrs . 2 Forfar West End ... 0 Cambuslang Rangers continued their build up to the new season with a 2-0 win against East Region side Forfar West End on Saturday.

The Lang rung the changes as they tried out more players in different positions .

The match started rather slowly with neither side creating anything of note although there were a few meaty challenges flying in form both sets of players which resulted in the referee having to have a word in a couple of players’ears.

It was a full 20 minutes before there was a shot at goal and it came from Lang’s Chalmers but his effort went just over the bar.

Halliday set up a chance for Lang when he played a fine ball to Boylan but his effort produced a fine stop from the West End‘keeper. He was at full stretch to finger tip it round the post.

With a couple of changes at the break, Cambuslang began to stamp their authority on the game and were pushing Forfar further and further back.

The home side took the lead on the hour mark when the‘keeper came rushing from his goal but only proceeded to rattle it off the rear of Halliday and the ball bounced 18 yards into the net with the defender in pursuit but was unable to get there to clear.

Cambuslang doubled that lead when they were awarded a free kick just outside the box and Dunn stepped up and fired past the keeper.

The game ended on a sour note when Forfar were reduced to 10 men having a man sent off for an alleged stamp that did not however, provoke any of the Cambuslang players.
