Fiat launch their rugged Fullback

-

FIAT Professional, the commercial vehicle arm of the Italian manufacturers, have a completely revised range of vehicles on offer, including the allnew Fullback pick-up and Talento, Fiorino and Euro 6 versions of the Doblo and Ducato vans.

But the most important newcomer to the UK will be the Fullback, Fiat’s first fullsize pick-up, which has been on sale from the start of this month.

It has been engineered to meet the needs of both professional business and recreational users.

Fiat say that, as with the Advertising Feature position on a rugby or football field, the Fullback needs to be an intelligent and adaptable player capable of dealing with any situation.

Available as a double cab only, the Fullback can carry a payload of up to 1035kg.

In terms of styling, the front of the Fullback has an upmarket appearance of a sports SUV, with its swept-back fascia, chunky front bumper and roomy cab-forward layout.

Two strips of satin silver trim are used to frame the front grille on the entry-level SX, while LX versions also have chrome-finished door mirrors, door handles and side steps, and 16in alloy wheels are standard on the SX.

Inside, the new Fullback cabin is more car-like, with an attractive two-tone black-andsilver dashboard, supportive and comfortable seats and pretty generous rear passenger room.

The SX is powered a 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 150hp and 380Nm of torque and its official combined fuel economy figure is 44.2mpg with CO2 emissions at 169g/km.

The standard SX transmission is a six-speed manual gearbox with ondemand four-wheel drive.

The Fullback offers a bed length of up to 1.52m, 3100kg unbraked towing capacity (2700kg for the SX model) and a best-in-class turning circle.

There’s a sophisticated double wishbone front suspension and a solid axle with leaf springs for maximum reliability and sturdiness.

The power and torque outputs of LX version are increased to 180hp and its official combined-cycle fuel economy figure is as good as 42.2mpg, while its CO2 emissions figures range from 173g/km up to 189g/km for an automatic gearbox variant.

It comes with a good list of standard equipment, including remote central locking, electric windows and mirrors, Bluetooth, DAB radio, a leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel and
