Teen asked girl, 11, for explicit pictures

Teenager, who pleaded guilty to six offences, set up fake Facebook to interact with his three victims

A teenager set up a fake Facebook account in an attempt to persuade an 11- year- old girl to send explicit images of herself.

Liam MacNe i l , f rom Rutherglen, also forced the girl to look at sexual images of women.

MacNeil faced four charges of inappropri­ately interactin­g with two girls aged 13 and under and a further two charges of sending graphic messages to a girl aged 14.

He pleaded guilty to committing all six offences at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

The court heard that MacNeil set up a fake Facebook page under the alias of Holly McIntyre.

MacNeil, who was aged 16 at the time of the offences, caused an 11-year-old girl to look at sexual images of women sometime between July 1, 2014 and July 8, 2014.

On July 8, 2014, he is also accused of repeatedly sending Facebook messages to the 11 year old in which he asks her to send him explicit images of herself.

A second girl, aged 13, was also, on July 15, 2014, sent a sexually explicit image of a naked female via social media. On the same date, MacNeil repeatedly sent the girl written messages of a graphic sexual nature.

A third girl, aged 14, was also sent sexually explicit pictures of naked females sometime between August 27 and August 30, 2014 and further written messages of a graphic sexual nature.

MacNeil, now 18, of Castlefern Crescent, pleaded guilty to all six charges against him when he appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on August 11. A not guilty plea for two additional charges were accepted by the procurator fiscal.

MacNeil will return to court on September 23 for sentencing.

The maximum sentence attached to any of the six offences committed under the Sexual Offences Scotland Act 2009 is five years.
