Fiat launch their new full­back road range

FIAT Pro­fes­sional, the com­mer­cial ve­hi­cle arm of the Ital­ian man­u­fac­tur­ers, have a com­pletely re­vised range of ve­hi­cles on of­fer, in­clud­ing the all-new Full­back pick-up and Ta­lento, Fior­ino and Euro 6 ver­sions of the Doblo and Du­cato vans.

But the most im­por­tant new­comer to the UK will be the Full­back, Fiat’s first full-size pick-up, which has been on sale from the start of this month.

It has been en­gi­neered to meet the needs of both pro­fes­sional busi­ness and recre­ational users.

Avail­able as a dou­ble cab only, the Full­back can carry a pay­load of up to 1035kg.

In terms of styling, the front of the Full­back has an up­mar­ket ap­pear­ance of a sports SUV, with its swept-back fas­cia, chunky front bumper and roomy cab-for­ward lay­out.

Two strips of satin sil­ver trim are used to frame the front grille on the en­trylevel SX, while LX ver­sions also have chrome-fin­ished door mir­rors, door han­dles and side steps, and 16in al­loy wheels are stan­dard on the SX.

In­side, the new Full­back cabin is more car-like, with an at­trac­tive two-tone black-and-sil­ver dash­board, sup­port­ive and com­fort­able seats and pretty gen­er­ous rear pas­sen­ger room.

The SX is pow­ered a 2.4-litre tur­bocharged diesel en­gine that pro­duces 150hp and 380Nm of torque and its of­fi­cial com­bined fuel econ­omy fig­ure is 44.2mpg with CO2 emis­sions at 169g/km.

The stan­dard SX trans­mis­sion is a six-speed man­ual gear­box with on­de­mand four-wheel drive.

The Full­back of­fers a bed length of up to 1.52m, 3100kg un­braked tow­ing ca­pac­ity (2700kg for the SX model) and a best-in-class turn­ing cir­cle.

There’s a so­phis­ti­cated dou­ble wish­bone front sus­pen­sion and a solid axle with leaf springs for max­i­mum re­li­a­bil­ity and stur­di­ness.

The power and torque out­puts of LX ver­sion are in­creased to 180hp and its of­fi­cial com­bined-cy­cle fuel econ­omy fig­ure is as good as 42.2mpg, while its CO2 emis­sions fig­ures range from 173g/ km up to 189g/km for an au­to­matic gear­box vari­ant.

It comes with a good list of stan­dard equip­ment, in­clud­ing re­mote cen­tral lock­ing, elec­tric win­dows and mir­rors, Blue­tooth, DAB ra­dio, a leather­trimmed multi-func­tion steer­ing wheel and gear­knob, air con, stop-start, front fog lamps and a tubu­lar side step.

A host of safety fea­tures in­clude seven airbags, ad­vanced ESC with anti-slip reg­u­la­tion, Trailer Sta­bil­ity As­sist, LED day­time run­ning lights, hill start as­sist and cruise con­trol with a speed lim­iter.

Euro 6 Full­back on the road pric­ing starts at £26,253 for the SX ver­sion. LX Man­ual is from £28,653 and LX Au­to­matic is priced at £30,333. (VAT, VET, de­liv­ery and plates are all in­cluded).
