Par­ents in Castlemilk, To­ry­glen, Croft­foot and King’s Park could soon need to en­rol their chil­dren for school in Novem­ber.

Glas­gow City Coun­cil are con­sult­ing on plans to have all par­ents reg­is­ter be­fore in­ter ar­rives.

Cur­rently, fam­i­lies and car­ers can reg­is­ter their child dur­ing en­rol­ment weeks in Novem­ber and Jan­uary for chil­dren due to com­mence pri­mary one the fol­low­ing Au­gust. The author­ity are seek­ing the views of par­ents about a po­ten­tial change.

A state­ment on the Glas­gow City Coun­cil web­site said: “We are propos­ing to ask fam­i­lies or car­ers to reg­is­ter their child dur­ing the en­rol­ment week in Novem­ber only. Al­though we would ad­vo­cate lo­cal schools for lo­cal chil­dren this will al­low fam­i­lies, who wish to make a plac­ing re­quest, more time.”
