Taxi man helps crying kid
A Rutherglen street was left stunned when a toddler fell from a second-storey window – and immediately got up.
The two-year-old boy plunged 35 foot from a tenement flat in Kirkwood Street last week.
It is believed he suffered a broken wrist and jaw as well as swelling to the brain.

But the youngster escaped with a broken wrist and jaw as well as swelling to the brain.
Witnesses said he was helped to his feet and was standing up minutes before his dad ran down the stairs.
A source said: “A taxi driver ran over and helped him. He thought the lad must have fallen over as he came running out of the close.
“He didn’t realise at first that the child came out of the window.
“The boy was crying and there was some blood on his face. The taxi driver helped him to his feet and he stood up for a few seconds before falling back down again.
“He had some injuries but he was crying and conscious.”
Neighbour Allan Gaitens, 59, said: “I heard a commotion and looked out of the window and saw him lying there. He was crying and there was quite a bit of blood.
“It’s some distance to fall and it’s incredible he has survived.”
Another person told the Reformer: “I was at a meeting at St Columbkille’s Hall at about 5pm, just setting up and I saw the police there.
“I wouldn’t have wanted to see the incident. I was thinking about it last night and just couldn’t get it out of my head. I hope he is alright.”
No update on th child’s condition had been released at the time the Reformer went to press.
A police spokesperson said they were probing the incident, which happened at around 4.15pm.
A council spokeswoman said they were working with the police.
