Rutherglen Reformer

You can bank on us to help out

-

The generosity of residents in Rutherglen and Cambuslang has been praised after a food drive helped replenish stocks at the local food bank.

Last month, Women for Independence Rutherglen announced they were holding a flash, online fundraiser.

This was due to an increase in demand which left many food banks running low on essential supplies. And local residents helped the group smash their target and raise £515 in just two weeks.

Katy Loudon, of the Women for Independence group, said:“We would like to thank the Reformer for publicising our campaign, and to all those who kindly made donations and shared our story.

“We have been able to make a huge delivery of the items which the food bank indicated they required, as well as a donation which will hopefully help them through the winter months.

“This is the second large-scale fund raising campaign we have undertaken for the food bank, and yet again we have been overwhelmed by people’s generosity and kindness.”
