Bike Town to open new hub

Cam­glen Bike Town are set to open their new hub in Ruther­glen.

The new 400 square me­tre fa­cil­ity is lo­cated at Unit 5, Thomp­son Court, Ruther­glen, be­hind the Aldi in the Bankhead in­dus­trial area.

Within the space, Bike Town will re­cy­cle, sell and ser­vice and re­pair bikes.

There will also be a so­cial space and cafe, along with cy­cle train­ing, bike main­te­nance work­shops and a skills track.

Guided rides will also leave from the hub.

A launch event will be held on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 29 from 11am-4pm with a range of ac­tiv­i­ties on of­fer such as a cy­cle trea­sure hunt, guided work­shop tour, Dr Bike, smoothie bike, bling your bike classes, raf­fles, live mu­sic and give­aways.

Bike Town will also be ac­cept­ing cy­cle cloth­ing do­na­tions and bike do­na­tions, for which res­i­dents can re­ceive 20 per cent off bike sales or ser­vic­ing.

A prize draw will be held with the first prize be­ing a brand new bike, sec­ond prize a re­fur­bished bike and third prize a full ser­vice for your bike.

The first prize has been do­nated by lo­cal busi­ness Gra­ham Dun­can, MD Richard­son and Star­ling. More de­tails of how to en­ter will ap­pear in next week’s Re­former.

After the open­ing, the new hub will be open from Wed­nes­days to Satur­days for the com­mu­nity.

Jim Ewing, se­nior team leader of Bike Town, said: “This is a fan­tas­tic de­vel­op­ment for the lo­cal com­mu­nity that Healthy n Happy have been work­ing to­wards for over two years.

“We are very ex­cited to launch this new space and look for­ward to wel­com­ing the whole com­mu­nity.”
