Bike Town to open new hub

Camglen Bike Town are set to open their new hub in Rutherglen.

The new 400 square metre facility is located at Unit 5, Thompson Court, Rutherglen, behind the Aldi in the Bankhead industrial area.

Within the space, Bike Town will recycle, sell and service and repair bikes.

There will also be a social space and cafe, along with cycle training, bike maintenanc­e workshops and a skills track.

Guided rides will also leave from the hub.

A launch event will be held on Saturday, October 29 from 11am-4pm with a range of activities on offer such as a cycle treasure hunt, guided workshop tour, Dr Bike, smoothie bike, bling your bike classes, raffles, live music and giveaways.

Bike Town will also be accepting cycle clothing donations and bike donations, for which residents can receive 20 per cent off bike sales or servicing.

A prize draw will be held with the first prize being a brand new bike, second prize a refurbishe­d bike and third prize a full service for your bike.

The first prize has been donated by local business Graham Duncan, MD Richardson and Starling. More details of how to enter will appear in next week’s Reformer.

After the opening, the new hub will be open from Wednesdays to Saturdays for the community.

Jim Ewing, senior team leader of Bike Town, said: “This is a fantastic developmen­t for the local community that Healthy n Happy have been working towards for over two years.

“We are very excited to launch this new space and look forward to welcoming the whole community.”
