Festive gifts in pipeline for OAPs

Some pensioners in the Cambuslang East ward could be in line for a happy Christmas thanks to Halfway Community Council.

The group are looking at delivering Christmas hampers to 100 pensioners in the area.

Plans for the hampers were put to a meeting of Halfway Community Council last week.

Secretary Jackie Rinn told the meeting the group were expecting a second donation from FunTastic Events, who have run funfairs in Halfway Park.

Earlier in the year, the group received £ 500 from Alan Newsome of FunTastic Events.

With more funding seemingly on its way, the community council will now look to using it to benefit local pensioners.

Ms Rinn told the meeting: “FunTastic Events have been really good for this community.

“We want to put { this funding back} into the community.”

Details of the proposal are still to be finalised and the group stated they were looking for local businesses to get involved.
