New-look men­tal health site

A web­site which gives the pub­lic ac­cess to in­stant men­tal health in­for­ma­tion and advice has been re­vamped.

The La­nark­shire men­tal health web­site Ela­ment has ded­i­cated sec­tions for adults, young peo­ple, car­ers, fam­ily and friends as well as pro­fes­sion­als.

The re­vamped site has been de­signed in a way that will make it eas­ier for users to nav­i­gate and get the help and sup­port they are look­ing for quicker.

Su­san McMor­rin, NHS La­nark­shire se­nior health pro­mo­tion of­fi­cer, said: “NHS La­nark­shire has been en­gaged in a na­tional pro­gramme to in­crease the use of tech­nol­ogy en­abled care with a par­tic­u­lar fo­cus on pro­mot­ing self-help and self-man­age­ment.

“We de­cided to look at up­dat­ing and im­prov­ing the Ela­ment web­site and this is the re­sult.

“The site gives in­for­ma­tion on lo­cal news and self-help re­sources and also advice on ev­ery­thing from stress, anx­i­ety, eat­ing dis­or­ders and de­men­tia, as well as in­for­ma­tion about lo­cal ser­vices.”

Most peo­ple will ex­pe­ri­ence some kind of men­tal health is­sue at some point which will im­pact on how they think and feel. The Ela­ment site aims to help peo­ple cope with th­ese as­pects of life dur­ing times they find this a chal­lenge.

Users of the new re­vamped site are also be­ing en­cour­aged to give feedback, com­ments or im­prove­ments they would like to see.
