Rutherglen Reformer

No real appetite for another referendum

-

Last weekend’s news about the drafting of a new independence referendum bill by the Scottish Government came as no surprise to anyone.

Rather than face up to the real issues we face in Scotland and get on with the job of governing the country, Nicola Sturgeon has opted for a fresh round of uncertainty about our place in the UK.

Speaking to constituents, I see no appetite for another referendum as education, health and the state of our national police force once again take the back burner.

I would urge the Scottish Government to think again before pushing through such a decisive issue.

The end of this month will mark my first six months as an MSP for Glasgow.

So far I have spoken on the issues surrounding childcare, women in the workplace, LGBT bullying, hate crimes and the new employment services and welfare powers that will be devolved to Scotland.

I will continue to push the Scottish Government on issues that matter to the people of Glasgow.

As ever, I will be holding regular surgeries across the region. Details can be found on my social media pages and no appointments are necessary. If you have an issue I can help you with please do not hesitate to contact me at my new constituency office on Maryhill Road.Call in at any time between 9am5pm on weekdays or phone 0141 945 6465.
