Men’s Shed wants members

-

A money advice service in Rutherglen has moved to a new location.

The Rutherglen Money Matters Advice Service office, based on 169 Main Street, moved to Cambuslang Gate on Wednesday, October 19.

They provide help to people living in the Rutherglen and Cambuslang areas for those who need debt, welfare benefit and tax credit advice and assistance.

The service is free and confidential and is available by office appointment or, where required, home visit. Rutherglen Men’s Shed will be set up in Rutherglen Baptist Church on Greenhill Road.

The group are now looking for new members.

A local group propose starting a Men’s Shed in central Rutherglen for the benefit of men in Rutherglen and the surrounding area.

The Me n ’ s Shed Association started in Australia and has quickly spread across the world.

The focus of a shed is to provide men who are retired or out of a job with a place to meet, an opportunity to share and pass on skills and to enjoy the banter of the workplace.

When Rutherglen Men’s Shed is up and running it is hoped a range of activities will be available so that anyone coming can find something that interests them.

The shed will be run by the men who meet there.

They propose having a work area with tools and work benches and a separate social area where men can relax and set the world to rights over a cup or two of tea.

Anyone interested in getting involved should contact 0141 647 7648 or 0141 569 1060 for more information.
