Men’s Shed wants mem­bers

A money ad­vice ser­vice in Ruther­glen has moved to a new lo­ca­tion.

The Ruther­glen Money Mat­ters Ad­vice Ser­vice of­fice, based on 169 Main Street, moved to Cam­bus­lang Gate on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 19.

They pro­vide help to peo­ple liv­ing in the Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang ar­eas for those who need debt, wel­fare ben­e­fit and tax credit ad­vice and as­sis­tance.

The ser­vice is free and con­fi­den­tial and is avail­able by of­fice ap­point­ment or, where re­quired, home visit. Ruther­glen Men’s Shed will be set up in Ruther­glen Bap­tist Church on Green­hill Road.

The group are now look­ing for new mem­bers.

A lo­cal group pro­pose start­ing a Men’s Shed in cen­tral Ruther­glen for the ben­e­fit of men in Ruther­glen and the sur­round­ing area.

The Me n ’ s Shed As­so­ci­a­tion started in Aus­tralia and has quickly spread across the world.

The fo­cus of a shed is to pro­vide men who are re­tired or out of a job with a place to meet, an op­por­tu­nity to share and pass on skills and to en­joy the ban­ter of the work­place.

When Ruther­glen Men’s Shed is up and run­ning it is hoped a range of ac­tiv­i­ties will be avail­able so that any­one com­ing can find some­thing that in­ter­ests them.

The shed will be run by the men who meet there.

They pro­pose hav­ing a work area with tools and work benches and a separate so­cial area where men can re­lax and set the world to rights over a cup or two of tea.
