HARRIERS SENIORS MEN TAKE RELAY TITLE

A Cambuslang Harriers quartet ran out convincing winners at the Lanarkshir­e Senior Men’s Road Relay Championsh­ip earlier this month.

Justin Car ter, Bobby Bristow, Robert Gilroy and Gordon Robertson were in excellent form in Coatbridge on Saturday, October 15.

The team finished 85 seconds ahead of Law and District and Motherwell with the B team finishing in fourth place thanks to Iain Nicholl, Ritchie Carr, Brian Douglas and Mick O’Hagan. Robert Gilroy recorded the fastest lap of the day.

There were medals also for the younger athletes, as the Under-13 girls team of Eilidh Kennedy, Niamh Riggins and Millie Nicholl combined well to take team silver.

Likewise, the U-13 boys trio, Fearghus MacGregor, Robbie Woods and Stewart Millard and the U- 15 squad of Sean Friel, Ruairidh MacGregor and Brodie Aitken secured silver medals. Both Niamh and Ruairidh were second fastest in their age groups.

The U-11 girls and boys and U- 15 girls, while out of the medals, gained experience.

Iain Reid took advantage of his holiday in the Highlands to win the Aviemore Half Marathon in the very respectabl­e time of 71 minutes and 19 seconds.

Simon Gold, David Stirling and John McCluskey doubled the distance to successful­ly complete the Loch Rannoch Marathon.
