Rutherglen is set to host the world’s largest trampoline park, the Reformer can reveal.

Flip Out Glasgow will begin work on their 63,000 sq ft premises at 89A Southcroft Road, with plans to open in March.

And not only will The Royal Burgh boast the largest trampoline arena in the globe, it will also create 120 jobs for the area.

The Reformer first reported Go Air Trampoline Park’s plans to open on the site, but they have since pulled out of the deal.

Flip Out were keen to take over the vacant buildings, originally owned by Morris Furniture.

A spokesman for the company said: “We started in Australia, where the owner Brent Grundy had kids of his own and whenever he took them out to a trampoline park he noticed they couldn’t jump together because they were too young.

“He saw much of the play centre was full of kids that were too big to enjoy the facilities and people were just waiting about.

“So he decided to create an environment that caters for all ages.

“We have parks in Australia, Korea, Hong Kong, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Spain but we are focusing on Britain at the moment.”

Flip Out Glasgow will be one of 60 sites around the world and is understood to be their 12th arena located in the UK.

As well as trampolines, the Rutherglen site will host a range of activities.

This includes a multi-level soft play area, a dodgeball court, basketball nets and a fivea-side football pitch with trampolines in the goals.

It also promises to have a ninja warrior course, a slide from the first floor into a ball pit and a laser maze room.

Customers will be able to jump from a six metre building into 25,000 foam blocks and adults will be able to enjoy a sports bar and cafe.

A similar complex in Chester, England, was set to open on Saturday and Bristol’s site currently covers 60,000sq ft.

The company will be recruiting employees six to eight weeks in advance of their opening date. For more updates visit Flip Out’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
