Festive fun at Calderwood

-

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and Calderwood Primary School was full of festive cheer at the annual Christmas fair.

The school was transformed into a winter wonderland as staff, pupils and parents gave the warmest of welcomes to the hundreds of guests who popped in on the day.

And the visitors were treated to a Christmas vista that was a glittering sight to behold.

There were yummy festive treats to sample, amazing bespoke gifts to buy and a raffle which boasted some truly amazing prizes.

The delicious home baking went down a storm and everyone was feeling warm and fuzzy inside as they tucked into cups of tasty homemade soup.

Santa himself even took up residence for the day in his grotto and the little ones just could not hide their excitement as they popped in to check that they were on the nice list and tell Santa what the hoped to get.

The event raised an amazing total of £7,700 on the day and everyone at the school said a huge thank you to everyone who helped out and came along to help make it such a huge success.

Jayne Swanson, chairwoman of the parent council told how the school was overwhelmed by the amount raised.

She said: “Each year we truly are blown away by the amount of money we raise for the school. We are all incredibly grateful to the generous spirit shown by everyone involved in helping to make the fair such a very special event on the school calendar.

“The amazing support we get from parents, staff, children and the whole community is so very much appreciated and we say a huge thank you to everyone. It just wouldn’t be possible without the incredible help you give.”

All of the money raised will be used to benefit the pupils at Calderwood Primary.

This year the focus is to support the book banding project for P4-7 as the lower school is already reaping the rewards of their fantastic new reading material.
