A Cambuslang business is determined to make Christmas special for cancer patients and their families.
Elfy Trees co- owners Jimmy and Donna Stevenson have donated two Christmas trees to Lanarkshire’s Maggie’s Centre, which sits within the grounds of Monklands Hospital.
The duo brought the festive spirit to the centre by arriving kitted out as elf characters Jimmy McJangles and Happy McJingles as they handed over their gifts.
Now the trees are in pride of place at the centre’s main lounge and in one of its suncatcher cubes, lighting the centre with festive cheer throughout December.
Donna, from Elfy Trees, which has been donating trees to Lanarkshire’s Maggie’s Centre for three consecutive years, said: “We are delighted to be able to support this amazing centre. We love our annual trip to Maggie’s, we are always met with a warm welcome and a warm cuppa, just what we need after being out in the cold.”
Ma g g i e ’ s Lana r k s h i re fundraising organiser Ruth Zokas said: “A big thank you to Elfy Trees for donating two Christmas trees to us; we’re so grateful to them for supporting us again this year.
“They come into the centre with festive cheer, and we can’t wait to decorate their trees.”
Star guest Edward Reid performed at the official switchon at the tree lighting event, which took place on Thursday, December 8.
Meanwhile, supporters of the centre — which provides practical, financial and emotional support for people with cancer and their relatives and friends — helped the charity raise nearly £1,350 at its recent Christmas fayre.
It included a host of stalls with great gifts and treats, including home baking, candles, knitted goods and homemade cards.
