Pupils make it festive day out to remember

- Jonathan Geddes

Fernhill School was feeling festive as they held a Christmas fair recently.

Pupils, parents, friends and other family members turned out in their droves, meaning the school had a busy atmosphere.

There was something for everyone on the day including Fairtrade advent items, festive jewellery, Christmas sweets, face painting, raffles and the everpopular tombola.

There was also a tasty selection of food and drink available to all the visitors in the shape of hot dogs, tea, coffee and cakes in the tea room.

No Christmas fair would be complete without a visit from Santa and he didn’t disappoint on the day either, popping in from the North Pole.

Pupils and their family and friends paid a visit to Santa’s grotto where they received a Christmas gift and a keepsake photograph.

Of the turnout for the fair, Dr Laura Murphy, head teacher, said:“The Christmas fair is always a very popular event in our school calendar and I am delighted to see so many pupils and their families coming out to enjoy the many activities on offer.

“The heart of Fernhill School is its staff, pupils and family members and it was wonderful to see them all coming together to have fun and relax.

“I would like to extend a huge thank you to our PTA who work tirelessly behind the scenes with our staff to pull off these wonderful events in our school.”
