Flemington Hallside Church’s Christmas market was recently a big success.

The event pulled in a record total of over £3,500 for the church.

Rev Neil Glover said:“We had great support from local businesses - not least from Curleys who supplied us with extra sausages, and kids were delighted to be with Santa.

“We loved having different folk from the community come along to enjoy our sensationa­l baking. It is so important that we have events in the community where people come together and this was one such occasion.”

Flemington Hallside Church continues to hold a community cafe each Thursday from noon until 2pm. Rutherglen United Reformed Church are to hold an evening of carols and cake on Friday December 16.

All are welcome to come along and enjoy an evening of song, food, fun and fellowship.

Entry is free. The last date for Cambuslang Parish Church’s community cafe before its Christmas break will be today, December 14.

The cafe will then be closed for four weeks and reopen on January 18 from 10am until noon. The King’s Park and Castlemilk Men’s Shed project that was being spear-headed by St Oswald’s Church will end this month and will not be able to create a new men’s shed in Kings Park after all. Rutherglen Old Parish Church is open every Thursday between noon and 2pm, with tea/coffee and biscuits available for £1.

The church will have a series of special festive services throughout December.

These include a Christmas gift and family service this Sunday, December 11, with all gifts donated to the social work department for distributi­on to needy children. St Columbkill­e’s Church are offering a chance to have a cuppa every day of the week after 10am Mass.

There will be a hot cup of tea or coffee and roll with bacon or sausage.

All proceeds will go towards keeping the church hall functionin­g. Stonelaw Parish Church are to hold a festive lunch on Wednesday, December 28 at 1pm at the Lee Burn in East Kilbride.

To date they have 20 people signed up to meet for lunch, and more would be welcome.

It does have to be pre-booked and the two course festive lunch menu costs £12.95.

Tea and coffee are available, along with home baking and a second-hand book stall.

Stonelaw Church have also started holding 30-minute services in the Meeting Place on the first Wednesday of every month. Rutherglen West and Wardlawhil­l Church’s weekly friendship cafe runs every Tuesday from 10am-noon. Castlemilk Parish Church hold community meals on the first and third Fridays of the month. Soup, pizza and pavlova are available from 6-8pm along with some live music.

The Tuesday Club at St Bride’s Parish Church will have their Christmas lunch on December 20. King’s Park Parish Church have a range of activities on offer over the next week.

These include: Zumba class, caterpilla­r music, mother and toddlers group, mixed badminton, messy church, community cafe, God Tok, pathfinder­s, carpet bowls and youth club.

The church will be screening the Christmas classic It’s A Wonderful Life on Friday December 16 at 7pm.

There will be tea/coffee, mulled wine and mince pies.

Entry is free.

The church’s Burns supper will take place on Sunday, January 29 at 6.30pm for 7pm.

Tickets are £10. King’s Park Church have also confirmed the date for their next Frock Swap. It will take place on February 4 and tickets are £10.

And the Sunday School’s next bring and buy sale will take place on Sunday, February 5 2017, immediatel­y after morning worship.

All monies received will go towards helping children and young people. Croftfoot United Free Church hold T In The Croft every Friday from 10am until noon.

They also hold Lunch at the Croft on the first Friday of the month from 11.30-1.30.
