Harvey blasts players and ref
Willie Harvey was left raging at both his players and the referee’s performances on Saturday.
The Celsius Stadium boss felt his Glencairn men didn’t do enough to win the game but also blasted the officials for awarding a soft penalty to the hosts in the second half.
He said: “We didn’t play well so a draw was probably a fair result.
“But I’m sick and tired of these referees who can’t make their minds up. I know I’m sounding like a broken record here but the decision was disgraceful.
“He wasn’t too bad in the first half but at the end of the half he had the three Renfrew coaches round him.
“And I told him what I thought about that.
“It was never a penalty. Ryan Docherty has been penalised and the boy has gone down as if he’s been elbowed.
“What annoyed me was before that happened, Ryan has run into another player and he’s [the referee] given the foul to Renfrew when if anything the foul was on Ryan.”
He added: “Afterwards I let rip in the dressing room.
“That surface suited the way we play because we train on it at Glasgow Green. We even bring the pitch in to make it tighter.
“But we just didn’t move as sharply as we normally do.
“Maybe I’m being a little overcritical and maybe I’m asking too much but it’s just because I’ve got such high standards for them because I know how good they are.”
Commenting on this weekend’s match with Shettleston, Harvey said: “Shettleston have went on a great run and I think it will be the most difficult game out of the top three we’ve faced this season.”
