62-year-old woman hit by car on christmas Eve

a teenager will stand trial in the new Year charged with assaulting a police officer and uttering threats of violence towards his mother.

the 16-year-old is charged with behaving in a threatenin­g manner by shouting, swearing and making violent threats towards his mother at a king’s park flat on January 17, 2016.

He is also said to have pushed a police officer on the body and struck him on the head with his hand.

the teenager denied both charges against him when he appeared at glasgow sheriff court on December 19.

He will stand trial on January 20. A Rutherglen woman had to be taken to hospital after being struck by a car on Christmas Eve.

The incident happened around 4.20pm at the Morrisons filling station on Bridge Street in Cambuslang.

The 62-year-old was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Glasgow.

She suffered from injuries to her pelvis and leg but they are not thought to be serious.

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Just a few hours later, police were called out to a report of a drunk man walking into oncoming traffic.

It is believed the man was trying to flag a taxi on Western Road in Cambuslang at around 6.55pm.

Police attended and were able to get the man a taxi and he was sent home.
