Packed year of park events

Friends of Cambuslang Park have unveiled their calendar of events for 2017.

They start on Saturday, February 18, with a quiz night at Whitefield Bowling Club.

Teams are asked to be there for 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

Tuesday, April 25, sees the annual general meeting take place at Cambuslang Institute at 7.30pm.

A spring clean- up and planting event will take place in April, although no date has been set yet.

A fairy walk has been pencilled in for Saturday, May 20, although this date has still to be confirmed.

Another fairy walk is scheduled to take place in June.

The ever- popular teddy bear’s picnic will take place on July 19.

Another big highlight of the year is the family fun day, which will take place on August 12.

Cambuslang’s canine population will have their chance to shine on October 1 when the Bark in the Park competitio­n takes place.

And there will be scary goings- on at Cambuslang Institute on October 28 when the Hallowe’en party takes place.

Friends of Cambuslang Park will celebrate their 10th anniversar­y with a Back in Time event on November 18 in the Cambuslang Institute.

This will be an opportunit­y for residents to see the work that has gone on throughout the years.

Finally, the festive season will arrive on December 16 with carol singing in the park.
