No problems with GPs

I was saddened to read of the difficulties some patients are experiencing locally getting GP appointments, with some people saying they have had to wait for three weeks.

However, I have recently nominated the Stonelaw practice at Rutherglen Primary Care Centre for a staff award through NHS Lanarkshire because of the first class service I have received.

As well as same day appointments, they offer some early morning bookable ones and a later evening surgery for those who are working.

I agree it can be tiresome to hold on at a busy time but there are plenty of people manning the phones and if someone really needs to see a doctor it is reassuring that a consultation will take place on that day.

There may not always be a choice of doctor or a choice of appointment time, but information is always given and if the problem can wait then a call can be made on the day, when the doctor of your choice and suitable time can be offered.

I think it is great to be able to get same-day appointments at this practice.

All staff – doctors, nurses, receptionists and telephonists – have been extremely helpful, kind and considerate and I have known them all for many years. New, younger and parttime doctors I have met are all a credit to the practice.
