Thought for the Week

-

As we progress through 2017, with the first month already behind us, what are our aims, our hopes and aspirations for this year? Is it to achieve more, to be more successful, to do more or perhaps less?

We need to consider what is most important to us and put these things first.

Of course there are times when we need to focus on different things only for a small period.

In the Bible Ecclesiastes 3 talks about the fact that there is a time for everything: a time to be born, a time to die, a time to cry and a time to laugh. Sometimes we find ourselves so busy that we don’t take time to enjoy life.

I got a new camera from my wife for Christmas, which I love and am enjoying trying new things with, but if you know anything about photography you’ll know it takes time: time to set up the shot, to get used to different techniques and sometimes waiting hours for that perfect photograph.

It means you have to slow down and enjoy your surroundings.

I am reminded of another part of the Bible that tells us not to worry about things. In the book of Matthew it says: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.”

Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Before the year disappears and we are suddenly in December again, why not consider what really matters and make an effort to do more of it?

Whether you believe it or not, God cares for us all and wants us to enjoy the best life has to offer so make sure this year is the year that you keep that resolution and get your priorities right so that 2017 is a year of few regrets. Ross Murray Reachout Trust
