Boy told to hand over cash or be ‘punched to death’

- Edel Kenaly

A 15-year-old who was told he would be “punched to death” if he did not hand over his money is appealing for help in catching the thugs who mugged him.

The teenager was walking home when he was brutally attacked by four yobs on Keirs Walk, Cambuslang, around 5pm on Sunday, November 6, but so far no one has been caught.

The teenager is now, through the police, calling on all those with information to come forward.

PC Laura Taylor, of the Rutherglen safer communities team, said: “The victim made his way along Monkcastle Drive and took a right on to Keirs Walk. He observed four males, all wearing black clothing with their hoods up, leaning against a wall.

“There was no verbal exchange between them and he continued to walk past them and, when he looked back over his shoulder, he saw they were following him.

“One of them grabbed his left shoulder and another kicked him on the legs. He fell to the ground and heard one of the males state ‘give us your money you wee d***, if you don’t give us your money we will punch you to death’.

“He gave them £ 20 he had in his pocket. They then punched him again and made off. He went straight home and told his mum who contacted the police.”

Officers have checked CCTV footage in the area but have so far failed to identify the four men involved in the attack. Anyone with information should call DC Crawford of Cambuslang CID on 101. Information can also be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
