Lang stuck on ‘glue pot’

- Jim Logan at Keanie Park

Cambuslang Rangers failed to win for only the third time this season when they travelled to play basement boys Johnstone Burgh.

The best they could do on a glue pot of a park that didn’t suit the Camby boys at all was a 1-1 draw as they failed to get any fluency in their passing.

The performance itself was a bit laboured but, having said that, they could and should have left Burgh out of sight early in the match. However, too many missed opportunities cost them.

Lang had the first chance of the game on four minutes but Hal Bohme pulled his effort well wide.

The deadlock was broken just before the interval when Dale Simeon was on hand to head Bohme’s cross to the back post past the keeper.

A flurry of bookings opened the second half as the referee tried to calm things down on the tricky surface.

The home side grabbed an equaliser five minutes after the restart when a defensive lapse allowed the Burgh striker in to tap home from close range.

The hosts had their tails up and were now pressing Cambuslang and, if not for some poor finishing, could have grabbed some more goals.

On the hour mark Ryan McBeth had a great chance but the keeper saved well.

Bohme was next to have a go but his effort was deflected wide of the post.

With the clock running down Burgh could have grabbed all three points but the ball was blocked and cleared.

With the last kick of the ball Lang should have snatched the winner but some last-ditch defending saw the ball booted cleared.
