Lang need to bounce back

-

Cambuslang Rangers manager Paul McColl is desperate for his side to bounce back to form – starting this weekend against Benburb.

The Somervell Park boss is aware the gap at the top was cut to four points as St Roch’s edged the Bens 2-1 on Saturday to reduce the deficit in the Central District First Division.

And after failing to win in their last two matches, the league leaders are needing a victory to get their title mission back on track.

McColl said:“It is another tricky tie for us. All the teams in the bottom four or five are only losing by the odd goal and a lot of them have strengthened.

“We didn’t play great and got beat off Rossvale. I was gutted with having been 2-0 up at half-time and losing 3-2. We need to bounce back and make sure something like that doesn’t happen again.

“The gap has got a bit closer but we have players who can turn up and win us the game [on Saturday].

“They haven’t turned up in the last two games. I could blame the parks and the stop-start schedule of games but these things affect other teams so we have no excuses.”

The Lang defeated Paul Lovering’s Bens 9-1 in the reverse fixture but McColl is almost certain he will not see a replay of that encounter.

“It definitely won’t be the same scoreline this time around,”he said.

“They have a manager who will fire them up and he’s a real fiery character. He just shouts the whole game.

“I’ve seen them a couple of times this season. They got beat off St Roch’s and should have got something out of that game by all accounts. I’m just hoping the weather holds up and the game can go ahead.”
