Voters could face another referendum

-

Hamilton West constituency have signed a petition against a second referendum.

Jim Moore, from Cambuslang, campaigned for Better Together in 2014, and said he will get involved again.

He added: “We decided the issue less than three years ago and it’s a kick in the teeth for those that voted no to have their democratic voice ignored so readily. I voted remain in the EU referendum but accept my side lost that vote and have to get on with it.

“With that being said, the case for independence is even flimsier this time, I think they’ll lose by a wider margin and it’ll put the issue to bed.

“I think the no campaign will look very different this time as the dynamic of Labour and Scottish politics have changed since 2014.

“I think it will be non-partisan groups that are pushing things forward, I’ve already signed up for Scotland In Union.”

In 2014, South Lanarkshire backed the union by 54.7 per cent to 45.3 per cent after an unprecedented turnout.

However, since then the SNP have swept aside Labour in Rutherglen and Cambuslang with Margaret Ferrier becoming MP and Clare Haughey becoming MSP.
