Campaign aims to improve services
South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership have signed up to the international Breaking the Rules for Better Care campaign.
The initiative aims to generate ideas from staff and people who use the partnership’s services – in order to improve health and care.
The campaign week, which runs from March 27- 31, is being led by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement ( IHI) and other members of the IHI Health Improvement Alliance Europe.
Marianne Hayward, head of health, South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership ( SLH& SCP) who is leading the campaign in the local area, explained the goal.
She said: “We want staff and partners across SLH& SCP and, crucially, people who use health and social care, to help us identify and share the well-intentioned rules, habits, policies and procedures that get in the way of delivering the very best care possible.
“Breaking the Rules for Better Care Week is not about cutting corners or taking short cuts. Patient and service user safety is, and always will be, our number one priority.
“Breaking the Rules for Better Care Week is about our commitment to seeking to continually improve the services we provide and also identifying priorities for action within our future service planning.”
Val de Souza, director of health and social care for South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership, added: “The feedback gleaned as a result of this week has the potential to profoundly enhance the experiences of our service users, their families, community members, our staff and partners over the weeks, months, and years ahead.
“We are listening as we move forward. And we are listening carefully.”
