Building work set to resume on project plagued by problems
The company behind the Toryglen energy efficiency scheme running almost a year behind schedule has released a break-down of when homes will be completed.
Thistle Housing Association, which hired E.ON Energy Services to do improvements to 608 homes, says the entire project should be complete for mid May.
The association, in partnership with E.ON, released a programme of works seven days after first minister Nicola Sturgeon intervened in the saga which has seen a 12-week project run into it’s ninth month.
Work will resume on March 27 at Kerrycroy Avenue where flats have been covered in scaffolding for months, gardens have been trashed and failures to install guttering correctly has seen homes riddled with damp.
Plumbing problems have also seen flats flooded with human waste.
But Thistle says E.ON will put all errors right when its returns to Kerrycroy Avenue homes, the first buildings that E.ON started work in June 2016.
Residents of that street received a letter on Monday notifying them of the work being done at their address and when it is scheduled for completion.
After these initial houses have been notified, during the course of next week, each house where work is already in progress will receive a letter stating when work will resume and how long it will take.
Thistle Housing Association has also agreed a start date for those houses which form part of the programme and as yet have had no work done to their homes. This work will commence on Monday, April 3.
More staff have also been tasked to work with the association’s dedicated project manager to manage the contract on behalf of residents.
Patricia Jamieson, chairwoman of Thistle Housing Association, said: “The team at Thistle Housing Association has undertaken extensive liaison with E.ON to ensure the schedule of works being proposed is credible and can be delivered efficiently.
“With the additional resources being put in place and a realistic programme identified - addressing the remedial before new work is started - provides a scope of work that can be rolled out immediately for our residents.
“We are in liaison with all residents regarding the schedule of works and will be communicating regularly regarding the progress being made on the project.
“We remain dedicated to doing everything in our power to ensure our residents receive a finished product they can be proud of as quickly as possible.”
Thistle has also agreed with E.ON and Glasgow City Council that a post contract audit will take place to provide further assurance that the work that has been undertaken meets the high standards stipulated by Thistle Housing Association in the original scope of works.
