Let us stick with Newton

-

Dear Editor

I am sending this email about the naming of the new school in Newton.

I was born and bread in Newton village and I attended Newton Primary School.

I do not think the name should be changed.

I do not know whether I missed something or not but I can’t remember being asked through the paper to suggest a name for St Charles’ school.

The school is now called the new St Charles school. If the school was to be called the new Newton Primary that would be fine.

I honestly would not like to see it’s name changed. Robert Moore via email

bitter referendums, we’re now on course for a third.

I’m sick to the back teeth of referenda and the rise of nationalism whether that be up here, down south or wherever.

In 2014, everybody had their say and Scottish people voted to stay as part of the United Kingdom.

Last year’s Brexit vote has provided First Minister Nicola Sturgeon with an excuse to call for a second independence referendum vote perhaps earlier than she and her party had planned.

Where does it all end? In the event of a Yes vote in a potential ‘indyref2’ would the SNP be gracious enough to make plans to hold a third vote so we can have best of three.
