Cambuslang churches are continuing their series of services looking at the Reformatio­n and its legacy.

The services are taking place throughout the month of March at Bride’s Church.

The next service is tonight, Wednesday, March 22, at 7.30pm

Rev Paul Fletcher of St Cuthbert’s Episcopal Church will be speaking, and looking at the Scottish Episcopal response to the reformatio­n.

All are welcome to attend. Rutherglen Baptist Community Church have now started having Messy Church services one Saturday in each month. Fernhill and Cathkin Parish Church’s Tuesday Tea Room is open for all each week from 9.30am to 11.30am. The Fitless Follies Keep fit class led by Myra Kerr meets every Wednesday at 10.30am All old and new members are very welcome. Stonelaw Church’s Cafe@The Meeting Place is open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am-2.30pm. Tea and coffee is available, along with home baking and a second-hand book stall. Stonelaw Church has also started holding 30 minute services in the Meeting Place on the first Wednesday of every month at 2pm, followed by tea and coffee until 3pm. All are welcome to attend, and these services are aimed at those who can’t attend a Sunday service. St Columbkill­e’s Church is offering a chance to have a cuppa every day of the week after 10am mass. There will be a hot cup of tea or coffee and roll with bacon or sausage. All proceeds will go towards keeping the church hall functionin­g. Donations of baking and unwanted gifts will be gratefully accepted. St Bride’s will be trying to help Mary’s Meals through a clothes collection. Anyone interested should please bring clothes that you would like to donate in bags to the hall on the weekend of March 25 or March 26. Cambuslang Parish Church’s community cafe is open every Wednesday from 10am until noon. Rutherglen West and Wardlawhil­l Church friendship cafe runs every Tuesday from 10am-noon. Flemington Hallside Church hold a community cafe each Thursday from noon until 2pm. The women’s guild meet on Wednesdays at 7pm, while ‘friendly hour’, a group for the elderly, takes place on Thursday afternoons at 2pm. Castlemilk Parish Church hold community meals on the first and third Fridays of the month. Soup, pizza and pavlova are available from 6pm-8pm. The church have also launched a monthly initiative called Treasure Hunter, taking a street per month and spend some time getting to know who lives there, who works there and form connection­s between that street and the church. Burnside Blairbeth Church continue to hold Messy Church every month. It includes crafts and games, mixed with Bible stories and a meal. The church also holds Storykeepe­rs for children in P1-3.

They meet on Tuesday evenings from 6pm to 7pm in the Blairbeth building.

At Storykeepe­rs they learn about a Bible story, play games, attempt crafts and have fun. King’s Park Parish Church has a range of activities on offer over the next week. These include: Zumba class, caterpilla­r music, mother and toddlers group, mixed badminton, community cafe, God Tok, pathfinder­s, carpet bowls and youth club.
