Hearing aid sessions

-

The charity, Action on Hearing Loss Scotland, is launching two new free monthly community drop-in sessions to support NHS hearing aid users in Rutherglen and Cambuslang.

The monthly Hear to Help sessions will start in the Rutherglen and Cambuslang Housing Association Office, 16 Farmeloan Road, Rutherglen on Friday, April 21 between 2-4pm and Cambuslang Library, 27 Main Street on Friday, May 12 between 10.30am-12.30pm.

Volunteers, who have been trained by NHS audiology, will offer basic maintenance – such as replacing hearing aid batteries and tubing – to help people get the most out of their hearing aid so that they follow conversations with family, friends and colleagues more clearly.

Lainey McFarlane, Hear to Help coordinator, said: “Getting used to a hearing aid can be difficult and takes time, and support from our volunteers can make the world of difference in helping people understand how to use and look after their hearing aids.

“We are delighted our Hear to Help service is now running in Cambuslang and Rutherglen so that NHS hearing aid users don’t need to travel to hospital for life-changing support.”
