IN THE MONEY!
Youngsters cash in during finance fortnight
Pupils at We s t Coats Primary in Cambuslang have been busy learning about the importance of budgeting during their recent finance fortnight.
Through working with money sense and the Royal Bank of Scotland, the children had to work together to plan a birthday party and the costs involved in looking after a pet with a limited budget.
Over the fortnight the children participated in daily fitness challenges and had the opportunity to listen to and work with volunteers from the Royal Bank of Scotland in carrying out their budgeting challenges.
There was a cross curricular focus for the finance fortnight this year, with it being closely linked with health and wellbeing.
The children participated in daily active physical exercises such as boot camps, daily miles and skipping challenges to name a few and were encouraged to gain sponsorship for participating in the active daily challenges.
Class teacher Karen Kelly said: “A very big thank you to everyone who was involved in the finance fortnight, in particular the volunteers who gave up their time and all the boys and girls and their families who took part in the sponsored challenge.
“The money raised from the challenge will go towards a sustainable school project as well as a donation to a local charity chosen by the children.”
